New Nintendo

One of the things that I love about the old console games is just how much fun they are. What I would love if I got a new console would be to play all the old games that I love so much. Well, it looks like if I am in the market for a new console I'll be able to play those games with the Nintendo Revolution. Nice. ;-) I can't wait to be playing Dr. Mario on a console with 512 Mb of memory on a HD TV, neither of which I now have. One day it will be mine, oh yes... ;-P

  2. The other day I saw a console (for 2 players) on sale in St. Laurent Shopping Centre that comes with about 100 games. If I remember well it was about $70.

  3. I have a NES with about 60 games, but some of them are getting hard to play. I probably have to clean the console and cartridges...

In the "future" I'll probably get the new Nintendo when my old one dies and I can't fix it, but until then I'm happy with what I have.
I buy a new gaming console every 20 years like clockwork!!

  4. Thanks for the heads up. When can I preorder? Seriously. I can't wait till the next Nintendo comes out. I have a GC and I am thoroughly pleased. Nintendo, by releasing old games, Hopefully for free :), will do what I have been telling them to do for years. Since Nintendo actually makes money off selling the hardware (unlike xbox), giving old games away for free will allow them to sell more boxes. And make more money, and have a larger user base so other developers will be more likely to develop games for it.
I just hope that slot load doesn't break down. Although the GC is a bit dated with its top-loading design, it is a very reliable way of loading discs.

  5. Did anybody else notice the absence of places to plug in the controller? I hope they don't go completely wireless. I hate having to use batteries. If they go wireless, I'm hoping it will use a built in rechargable battery for the environment's sake.

  6. All 3 next-gen consoles are going wireless with controllers, and that's what'll ship with the console. The XBox360 does have 2 hidden slots for wired controllers though. The xbox360 console can even be turned on with the wireless controller, like a remote for your TV. That's pretty cool. I'm a little worried about the battery issue, too, though. If it's too bad, i'll just buy and use a wired controller.

  7. The Revo (i'm coining that term now) does mention having 2 usb ports. Maybe they can plug in some controllers there. I don't mind using wireless, provided it doesn't sacrifice actual control. I've always found that wireless was a little finicky. But Nintendo has been known for waiting until the tech is ready, hence the cartridges on N64, when optical wasn't fast enough to provide good loading times.
