I'm pretty pissed right now, but what makes it worse is when I find quotes likes this
you cant compare a doctor with a driver- they are on 2 completely differently playing fields. they dont have to endure the hardships bus drivers doHardships...
The thing that sucks about this strike is that the people who are the most vulnerable are the ones most effected by this. It's disgusting. Sick, elderly, business just scrapping by, people who don't have access to transportation. The union can't see past their noses.
Dear Drivers: I hope that the best offer you get is less than the current one on the table. I hope that this bankrupts as many of you as businesses that you are bankrupting. I hope that as many of you lose your jobs as you've caused others to lose. I hope you stay out till June.
I hear ya.
ReplyDeleteOnce the snow is gone, it's going to be much easier to endure a strike. There's no way they would have decided to go on strike in May, since people would just start walking/jogging/biking to work instead.
If this strike lasts until April even, I could care less if it doesn't get resolved until next November.
My message to bus drivers: The city doesn't care how long you're out. Every day you strike the city chips away at its deficit. You're helping them save money. Also, public opinion is overwhelmingly in favor of the city. Unemployment in Ontario just hit 6.6% and is expecting to keep rising in 2007, meanwhile you can't accept a 7% raise over scheduling??? Have fun on strike pay...
In my above post I mean unemployment is going to keep rising in 2009 (obviously). I'm sure you got the point (unless you're a bus driver).
ReplyDeleteGood point. It's only been 1 month, but if it lasts for another 2 - 2.5 months, very few people will care. So, if you think of it that way, we're like a 1/3 of the way to being done. ;-)
