I've got a couple of folding bikes. They're at my folks place, but I've got to bring them to the house. Now I just saw a strida online... cool! The 800 $ price means I can't see myself getting one, but cool none the less.
Not a bad looking bike, I like how small it folds. Personally, I would never buy one though. Too expensive, and not really that good at getting around. Looks like it only has a single gear, and those tiny tires would make it hard to get any real speed. If you're going to spend that kind of money, get a nice entry level road bike. You'll get to your destination a lot quicker, and the bike will probably weight less. I can't believe that tiny bike weighs 22 lbs. I mean, you can get a full size bike that weights 22 lbs (http://www.norco.com/bikes/road/performance_road/cm_2.php).
I don't think that I explained *why* I like a folding bike at all. You can pick up the bike and take it in the car / bus. You don't actually have to depart in the same way that you arrived. When it's raining in the morning, I can bus in, but bike home. I could bike to work, leave my bike *in* the office and go out drinking and not worry about someone stealing my bike over night. I do want a road bike too. I want it all. *sigh* Ryan: Thanks. ;-)
Yeah, I understand the whys of a folding bike. It definitely has it's advantages. I just can't see getting enough use out of it to justify the high price tag.
