Lumumba

I watched Lumumba on Firday with Laura. It was one of the Sparks Street free movies. It was very interesting. I had never heard of it before, but I guess that is because it is an african film (in French) about a political leader. Not what most people would call "main stream". I think that it was a very good movie though. It helped me realize just how bloody and burtal social uphevial in Africa has been. Now I understand the words in the Billy Joel song We DidnĂt Start The Fire where he says "Belgians in the Congo". This is why I am trying to read things that are considered classics like Plato's Apology. So many references thoughout our lives to things that we don't know. Our brains just skim over them without realizing it. Hopefully one day I will understand most references. Or at least some. ;-)
