One thing that keeps on coming up for jobs is communication. People who don't communicate with others can slow everything down. That's not cool to say the least. *sigh* (Sorry for the rant.) And it doesn't just depend on how you communicate, but how well you would fit in with others on the team. I have come to realize that this is the true use of interviews. Adding a person that "fits in" with either make or break a team dynamic. You probably won't believe me till you see it both ways, and it is rare to see it "working".
On a totally different note, I think that I am going to go running tomorrow. Yay!! ;-)

Definitely, team chemistry is a big one. Being on a well-oiled machine working on a project is pretty sweet!
ReplyDeleteThe trick is finding people you get along with that also have either the technical skill or the ability/willingness to learn. Sometimes you're almost better off being short a person than bringing in someone less than ideal ...
I totally agree. No if's, and's or but's.
ReplyDeleteMicrosoft's hiring policy is: if you have any doubts, no hire. They'd rather not have someone iffy.
ReplyDeleteThey probably get a lot of false negatives this way but they have enough applicants that it doesn't matter.
