Today I took my car into the dealer 'cause the steering had started to make thumping noises, then grinding noises, and then started to act a bit funny (other than the noises). It turns out that it is the strut(s) and they have to replace it 'cause the ball bearings are all sezed up. The good thing is that I am going to get my car back today. The bad thing is that I am considerably poorer. Things never break down at a "convient time", because there isn't one for things to break down. Ah well.
Even if I had the tools, I am not sure if I would want to do that stuff. I hate working on my car. I guess that's why I went into engineering instead of becoming a mechanic. *sigh* Ah well.
Listening to: Bif Naked - If I
[Update] They just called and one of the front springs is broken too. So they will replace both. *sigh*
Just keeping thinking to yourself that it's only temporary. :) Once you get settled down you can get a lease with a manufacturer's warrantee and not have to pay for this stuff. The title of your post should actually be "Used Cars Are Money Pits". Ya, I feel your pain, brother.
ReplyDeleteI think cars nowadays are too complicated to work on. I don't mind figiting with the snowmachine or lawnmower when I need to, but cars just seem to break in ways that most people don't want to deal with. I sometimes wish i had a car, then I hear stories like this.
ReplyDeletehahaha... ya, sometimes I wish that I didn't have a car, but oh well.
ReplyDeleteMost of the time to figure what is wrong with the car you have to have a computer hooked up to it, and apparently they update the sw that you use twice a year, so you have to keep on paying for it... worse than MS "critical updates" because they have to pay for them.
