The Home Buyers' Plan helps you out if you are buying a home for the first time. You can take money out of your RRSP (tax shelter) and then repay it over the next 15 years. Interesting. Just one thing, when did I get so old that I'm interested in things like tax shelters, RRSP's, and buying a home? *sigh*
My brother did this and if I remember correctly he said you're only allowed to do it once! So make it count.
ReplyDeleteYa, it's only for "first time buyers". I don't think that you could use it once for a husband, once for a wife. They've got to be smarter than that.
ReplyDeleteyeah, another sign that you're getting on in years is when you stay up til 2am talking about RRSPs and financial planning with your friends based on a conversation that started with "So what did you do today?"
