Belly who?

Supposedly this question has caused churches to break up and other messed up things.

Going on the assumption that God created Adam and Eve as a template for all people that followed; did Adam or Eve have a belly button? If he didn't (since he was made out of dust) does that mean that we're not really the same as Adam? Of if he did, where did he get it from?

But I think that this question leads to a bigger issue: if God doesn't approve of popsicles without sticks, then why would He tolerate freeze pops to exist?

Discuss.

  1. Hmmmm, can't really comment, as my "Did Adam and Eve have Belly Buttons?" book is currently locked in my portable, and I've been too sick lately to go into work :(
Seriously, there is a book by that name, and if I recall, their treatment of that question was basically: We don't know, and don't pretend to know. All that really matters is that God is Creator, and while the question may make for interesting discussions, the answer shouldn't cause a crisis of faith
i like that answer, myself :)

  2. The answer is obvious. In the same way that God created fossils (instead of the dead dinosaurs doing it), God created Adam and Eve with bellybuttons.
See, no cause for a crisis of faith, like Karen stated.

  3. It's funny if you do a search on the net related to this stuff.
Karen, I'm glad that you take a practical view of it. Nice and reassuring. ;-)
