btw, I'm getting more and more annoyed at the people at futureshop. Every time I am in there, the sales people are trying to sell me the most expensive things ('cause they make commission). They aren't too good at it either. And the damn warranty plan! Aggghh! Before showing me products they want to sell me the warranty for anything. I have to tell them to stop and wait till I figure out if I want to buy anything... Maybe I'm just not dealing with the sharpest knives in the box when I go there. *shrug*

I just bought myself one this weekend from futureshop. I bought this one:

How do you find yours? Is it good? From the image it looks like the ear pads are made out of leather. I think you would feel uncomfortable wearing them for long. The one I bought is very comfortable, but not the best sound quality around.
I was planning on buying a Sennheiser, but found out some facts.
1- They're much cheaper in the US than in Canada.
2- They're much cheaper in Europe than in the US.
3- Futureshop's prices are sky high!!!
The following is quoted from:

"The sony's were unbelievably better than the HD 500 and i couldnt believe it since the Sony is half the price. I then started to repeat the name Sennheiser in my head and remembered that this brand is german. These headphones being european have their prices atleast doubled when comming into north america, especially canada which results in the High price/Low performance rating. I called my uncle who lives in germany and he confirmed my hypothesis. He confirmed that these HD-500 headphones are found among the value headphones in electronic stores and are highly affordable in Germany, but when they're shipped to canada or USA, the price shoots through the roof. Unfortunately most people believe in the "higher the price" "higher the performance" stereotype, yet they fail to realize that product prices do not accurately represent the actual material/quality costs, rather they represent currency exchange and taxes added when crossing the atlantic. If you live in north america and you have a strict budget on headphones please stay away from european brands, rather go for Sony or other Japanese brands"
Jim, one more thing, they're called 'cans' these days, not 'phones'.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I think that If you are going to buy sony headphones, you should just go to the sony store. I think the prices are pretty much the same, and I've found that the salespeople aren't pushy at all there. I think sony headphones are pretty good quality for the price you pay. And a good pair of headphones really does make a difference in comfort and sound quality.
