Apartment shopping

Today is the first time where I actually cared when I have gone apartment shopping. It's only the second time in my life. It went well I think, but more tomorrow. The first place we looked at was wonderful. If it wasn't the first place, we might have just stopped there. There was one place that we had an appointment for tomorrow but we're going to cancel. It's mostly 'cause I know a guy that lives there with a few complaints about them.

In case this didn't really come out before, but I am moving out with Laura. I'm very excited about this. It'll let us see so much more of each other. This means no more less having fallen asleep in someone else's house and being woken and sent home at 3 am. It means being happy more. And I think it also means having grown up some too. But that doesn't mean I'll start acting like an adult! That sure would be silly... ;-)

You're pretty optimistic about moving in with your lady friend. Sounds wonderful, eh? Just you wait; it's not all flowers and cup cakes.

  2. Mmmm... cup cakes....
Maybe things won't always be perfect, but I think that I will be much, much happier.
It's something that I really want to do.

  3. I think that you'll BOTH be really happy.
Living together is not all flowers and cupcakes... it's so much more.

  4. It's going to be a big step for you to finally be moving out, let alone moving in with your girlfriend. Here's hoping everything works out. And to the first poster, whoever it may be :), not all relationships are the same, some couples get along better than others.

  5. hee hee... thanks guys.
As for the first poster, I don't think that it's so much a mystery who that person is. I only know one person who works at Stats Canada. :-P

To the fourth poster, what's your point? Nobody said that all relationships were the same. Nor, i'd assume, does anybody think so. Let's also remember that relationships prior to moving in together do not (necessarily) equal relationships post moving in together. That's my point. If you don't understand that now, you will by October or November, if not September. Since, at this time, Jim cannot determine what the relationship will be like after August (due to the afore mentioned reason), an intelligent person would take something closer to the average. And, the average is not flowers and cupcakes.
I'm not saying that moving in with your lady friend is a punch in the stomach, i'm sure it's pretty nice most of the time, and, in many cases, i'd recommend it. But, i'd say that all of your contrasts will be fed Miracle Grow(R). Don't be fearful, be ready, and, most importantly, be understanding. That's what i'm saying.

  7. Great advice. Yes, going into something with you eyes open (and without rose coloured glasses!) is the best idea.
