Our place, in the middle of the building. Our place...

Well, the lease has been signed and we get the keys Aug 14th. I'm so excited it's not even funny... since it's just such a short time away, we have a lot to do in that time, but I think that it's all good. ;-) Now we just have to figure out things like layout, internet, phone, furniture, ... Busy, but fun.

Today is also my sister's b-day... she's a lucky 7. Every time I seem to be away from the house, she looses a tooth... that's like 4 in the last month. Maybe we should have gotten her a blender for a present 'cause at this rate she won't have any teeth left!

  1. Just wanted to give you some advice about moving out of ma and pa's.
You should fallow yourself around for about a week and pay attention to all of the things you use (eg. can openers, screw drivers, oven mitts, bottle openers, nail clippers, iron, toilet brush, ...). It sucks when you move out, and then one day when all of the stores are closed and you're in the middle of making dinner and suddenly realize that you don't own a can opener. I'm sure that you'll have great fun with the can and a sharp rock that you found behind the apartment.
So be warned! There's so much little crap to buy, you'll be amazed.

  2. You know, I'm really surprised someone hasn't put together a kit with all that stuff in it...

  3. I actually ran into that problem in Montreal. The guy whose room I took over was there for a couple days when I moved in. Then he moved out. He took everything that was his including most of the lights, the microwave, the can opener, ...
I already have some of that stuff left over from that experience, but I am sure that there is a lot more little stuff. Especially for the bathroom and kitchen.
Thanks for the good advice. ;-) I'm planning to start putting together a big pile of stuff to move including all my kitchen stuff.
    Any other suggestions?

  4. Maybe you could also go and walk around Walmart or Ikea. Everything that you see, say to yourself "Do i have that? If no, do i need it?".
More items: Curtains, Shower curtain, Mats, including that mat outside the bath tub, Place mats, Utensil holder for the drawer, Laundry hampers, Toaster, Kettle, Coffee/tea maker, Dish rack (for drying, if you don't have a dish washer), Hangers, All sorts of cleaning supplies, Light bulbs, Broom and pan, Work tools (i wish i had some), Lawn chairs?, Vacuum, ...

  5. Don't forget a batch of dirty magazines.

  6. What I really mean is a batch of magazines that are dirty from the dirt, and you can use them if you decide to paint the appartment to protect the floor.
