I'm graduating!

U of O finally put up the number of guest tickets and who is graduating. Now my problem is that they are only giving out 3 tickets per student. I'd like my folks and my grandma's to be able to go. Does anyone know of anyone who could spare one ticket? I'm sure that I'm not the only one is this boat either... *sigh* Ah well.

  1. Jim, on the info pamphlet they sent us when they also gave us the guest voucher (should have received it in the mail) they also say that any leftover tickets will be available 30 minutes before the ceremony at the box office, and any leftover seats will be amde available 5 minutes before the ceremony.
It sucks, I know. My parents and brother snatch up my 3 tickets, so my aunt and bf have to wait in the line :(

  2. Anything cool one go to next to the NAC if tickets are not available?

  3. That's the thing, do I really want to tell (one of) my grandma's that she'll have to wait and IF she's there 30 minutes before she MIGHT be able to get to see it? That really sucks.
I don't know of anything else cool that's happening downtown that Sunday that people who didn't get in could go to. I'll have to look into that.
One thing that Aleks said that makes sense is: why don't they break up the eng. grad. into SITE and non-SITE? There would actually be room for everyone and a "reasonable" number of guests to see you graduate after 4+ years of school.

  6. eeek .. difficult problem ... I guess drawing straws isn't an option?
I'm sure the reason they didn't split SITE and non-SITE is because then they'd have to rent the NAC for another time slot, and that costs $$$ ...
plus, if you check the list, it's mostly SITE ppl anyways .... I don't think it would be an even split ... and they'd probably want to keep the whole faculty together, if possible.

  7. Still, you'd figure for the amount of cash that we've collectively spent they could get a decent amount of seats...
I mean, even if you had to buy tickets, would you think twice about paying $30/ticket? For three tickets, probably not...

  8. This is now become less of an issue for me. My grandma who was coming from out of town is now not going to make the trip, so I am down to 3.
It would have been nice to have other close family be able to come too, but I guess that's how the fudgeo crumbles.
