Yes, I think that I have had a break though: Ottawa radio sucks. I'm posting this after they have killed the only station that I have been listening to: XFM. I'd put a link to it, but their web site is already down. :-( I think that there is another station that was the country one that has a different format, but that's where the DJ's have been moved to.
I think that I'll just listen to mp3's and CD's that I buy (yes, I do actually buy music). I tried to find links about this, but I have not come up with anything. It's sort of nuts. I think that radio stations tell the public
less of what is going on compared to
school.
Listening to: Collective Soul - Where The River Flows
Ottawa-area radio has gotten progressively worse over the last ten years.
ReplyDeletePersonally I stopped listening to radio at all after The Bear moved to their 'classic-rock' format (1994?).
I'm sure you could probably find a few decent streaming music feeds though that offer music similar to XFM.. (if you find anything good, let me know!).
Sounds like what they did when they changed Kool FM's format to Bob FM: no warning, no explanation, just did it over a weekend. I refuse to listen to 93.9 anymore, not just because I'm not fond of that music, but because of the 'sneakiness' factor.
ReplyDeleteI just listen to CHRI now, which is good for the car but the signal is so weak that I can't get it on my clock radio. *sniff*
Yay for the variety of Toronto... (at least it's good for something)!
ReplyDeleteyeah, I'm of the school of thought that says radio sucks, period. It's ok for a while, but if you listen to, even a good station, enough, it starts to get really repetitive. Internet radio tends to be a bit better, but doesn't tend to work very well in the car, which is where most people listen to the radio.
ReplyDeleteHave you tried XM Satellite radio? I believe it costs something like $9.95 per month, but you can get whatever you want at any time. Plus they have live deejays, which is a feature that's disappearing in radio today.
